The Coussin de Lyon is a delicious traditional French speciality created by Voisin. It is made with chocolate ganache, coated with a fine layer of marzipan, and enriched with a touch of curaa§ao.
In 1643, a terrible epidemic ravished the city of Lyon. In order to combat the disease, the people of Lyons walked in procession up the Fourviere hill, where they prayed to the Virgin and lit candles, leaving a gold piece upon a silk cushion. Each year, the Magistrates of Lyon repeat their prayer, and three canon blasts announce that their wish has been respected. The Coussin de Lyon is inspired by the silk cushion.
