This Reserve Syrah is from the original vine cuttings Alan Limmer famously planted in the Gimblett Gravels in 1984. NZ’s oldest Syrah vines… 35-years old at the time of this fabulous 2019 harvest. Our panel described it as a beast of a Syrah, referring to its imposing opulence and bold tannins. It has impressive Rhone-like complexity, its power and structure should see it cellar worthy for 15-20 years. Modern day (since 2010) Stonecroft owners Dermot and Andria continue to do justice to Alan Limmer's Stonecroft legacy… changing the vineyards to 100% bio-organic and focusing on low fruit yields. Their vineyard work and winemaking are without compromise and the old vines have showed their class once again in the superb 2019 vintage.
