Launched on the Japanese market in 2013, Taketsuru Pure Malt is the new age-free version of Nikka's premium blended malt.
The Nikka Taketsuru has been developed as a tribute to Masataka Taketsuru, founder of the Nikka whisky house and a leading figure in Japanese whisky, a true master of blending, constantly striving for perfection.
This whisky is a blend of single malts of around ten years of age and is both affordable and of very high quality. The result is astonishingly rich and complex, with a balance between sweetness, delicacy and intensity.
Tasting notes from the supplier
Nose: Fresh and fruity, reminiscent of freshly squeezed fruit juice, with white fruit, some peach and juicy grape notes.
Palate : Coffee, liquorice, coffee grounds, a burning cigar. In short, a muscular and assertive mouth!
Finish : All liquorice. A fine bitterness that quickly gives way to more melted and medicinal aromas of camphor and eucalyptus. Then it vanishes on malted barley.
