- Description
A whisky so authentically Scottish that its malts contain the great freshness of marine scents, after the ocean has come crashing against the rocks of the coasts of the Isle of Islay.
Bunnahabhain Distillery
At the northernmost tip of Islay, right on the coast, Bunnahabhain (pronounced "boo-na'hav'n") means "mouth of the cove" in Gaelic. Founded in 1883 by a family of farmers, the Greenlees, the distillery has long celebrated its maritime location, featuring on its label a fierce Scottish captain at the helm of his ship, gazing towards some distant destination. And some connoisseurs readily detect remarkably fresh, marine notes in its malt.
The tasting
Smooth. Intensely smoky. Peppery, floral. Fruity (pear, yellow plum)
