- Description
Marked by its power, this exuberant and elaborate rum, distinguished by its refinement, will not fail to seduce lovers of rum with spicy and roasted notes.
Hampden
Hampden rums are exceptional, and the HLCF is no exception. Crafted from a single HLCF mark, it's the perfect bottle for connoisseurs and purists seeking intense and uncompromising taste experiences.
But what does HLCF mean?
The name "HLCF" for "Hampden Light Continental Flavoured" refers to one of the most famous Hampden marks, with an ester content between 400 and 600 gr/hLAP.
Tasting notes:Nose: Lively and concentrated, the notes of acetone attest to its high alcohol content, but softer notes of flambeed banana, prune and lemon complete the nose.
Palate: Intense and exquisite, we find the fruity notes of the nose to which are added smoky and roasted notes.
Finish: Long and rather delicate, the cooked cane syrup takes over before giving way to more herbaceous notes and aromas of pine resin.
Hampden by Habitation Velier
It is thanks to Luca Gargano, director of Habitation Velier, that this Jamaican distillery has been brought to the forefront. For although Hampden has been in operation for over 265 years, none of its bottlings had ever been produced for the international market. This 10-year-old Hampden is therefore yet another magnificent gift for its devotees, who continue to applaud the talent of this renowned distillery.
The 5 pillars of the Hampden Estate
If Hampden is recognized by some as the best distillery in the world, it is surely because its production is based on "5 founding pillars", without which their rums could not exist.
Spring water. To make its rum musts, Hampden uses its own spring water, not water from underground aquifers. The estate has its own mountain water collection system.
A wild fermentation. It is thanks to wild yeasts naturally present in their fermentation chambers that their rums develop such a high level of esters and a truly unique aromatic profile in the world.
A distillery exclusively using pot stills. Equipped with four pot stills, the distillery is one of the last remaining distilleries that still distills using traditional, discontinuous methods in double-retort copper stills. The oldest still dates back to 1960, while the most recent has only been in operation since 2016.
Tropical aging. Their spirits have aged for at least 4 years on average in a tropical climate. This may seem short, but it's equivalent to no less than 25 years of aging in Europe.
Sugar-free. Hampden rums are produced naturally, without added sugar, caramel, tannins, or colorings. Produced, aged, and bottled without any additives, their spirits are completely authentic.
