Toxic and Poisonous Plants for Dogs and Cats


Mostly cats and dogs use their nose and tongue to feel and scent the world. Cats and dogs enjoy scenting the plants and eating bright colored flower plants.  But it can be dangerous for your pets. Many plants consume some percentage of toxic which are harmful to pets. Here we give you the list of some toxic and poisonous plants which can be dangerous to the health of pets.

1. Autumn Crocus

Autumn Crocus is a part of the Lilaceous family which contains colchicines. This content is very toxic and poisonous to pets. Pets get allergic and then suffer from acute diarrhea and vomiting. the more consumption can lead to severe vomiting and gastrointestinal bleeding. Autumn Crocus is a spring plant. And spring plants are more toxic than another flowering plant. You will find autumn Crocus in the flower garden mostly. So it is advised to take care of pets when they are playing in the garden having Autumn Crocus plant.

2. Tulips and Hyacinths

Tulips and Hyacinths both are allergic to pets. Tulips and Hyacinth both possess the allergic alkaloids called lactones. It is toxic and very badly affects the stomach of the pets. The infusion of tulips and hyacinths can cause an allergic reaction like itching, irritation in eyes. It can damage the tissues of mouth and esophagus. In the starting stage pet suffers from vomiting, diarrhea. So you must take care of pets when they are around the tulips flower or Hyacinth flower. The case becomes severe if they consume more cr of these flowers. it can cause an increase in heart shape and changes in respiration. They need very good care after the treated by a veterinarian.

3. Daffodil



The daffodil bulb contains licorice which can lead your pets to the risk of indigestion, vomiting, abdominal pain and a severe heart attack. Small crystals on the daffodil bulb are more dangerous. They can cause the same allergy as Hyacinth. Pet can cause breathing problems due to respiratory aggression. So daffodil is not a choice of houseplant for the pet owners.

4. Cannabis



Cannabis is another toxic plant for the dog. This is very dangerous for its poisoning vets see. It contains Delta nine tetrahydrocannabinol. it directly affects their neurological system. This chemical can cause tremors, drooling, incoordination, depression, and coma and also lead to respiratory problems.

5. Sago Palms

Sago's palm is very toxic and very toxic plant can cause to the death of pets. they are highly toxic for dogs.  It usually springs in warmer climates and their seeds and leaves both are toxic. consumption of this toxic plant can cause to bloody stools, vomiting, diarrhea and also at the rise of multiple organ failure.

7. Lantana Plant

The reason behind is it is very toxic to dogs and cats. it can cause neurological disorders like depression, stress, weakness, loss of appetite, swelling and paralysis. The severe is possible liver failure. So this is the main reason Lantana is not the preferred plant for the pet owners.

Cats and dogs are an important part of our lives, they are like family. After scientific serves and clinical research above plants are declared as toxic or poisonous for cats and pets. They are harmful and very toxic for your lovely pets. So better stay away from such plants. Or keep your pets away from such plants. “Precaution is better than cure”.
